Chapter 5- The Sunstone Enclave Disclaimer: You know the drill... I stared at it and my mouth went dry. It was part insect and part reptile. It was a waspwyrm. Behind it was four other, smaller waspwyrms. And on the ground, was an army of creatures, running, leaping, loping and jumping. Amidst the pack, was a strange creature. It was a great fanged beast, coloured white with blue stripes. It was a large white tiger. “That’s Baihu! He’s Sharrakor’s right hand man! They must have heard the prophesy and are here to stop us!” Crystal screeched. “Great.” I mumbled and drew out my sword. Kou’s face hardened and drew out his blade. Then, the waspwyrms attacked. I swiped my sword at the waspwyrm that was attacking me, while keeping my balance on Crystal. Crystal and Obsidian were trying to increase their speed so that we could reach the Sunstone Enclave before the army of free shadows could. I thrust my sword into one of the waspwyrm’s heart, effectively killing it, before nearly being knocked down by the other one. “Ah!” I screeched flailing my arms regaining my balance. “Careful!” Kou yelled while fighting off three waspwyrms at once. I thrust my sword into the other waspwyrms belly. It fell to the ground, cutting off the passage to the Sunstone Enclave. That would buy us some time at least. Kou was having less luck. He had only managed to kill the two of the smaller waspwyrms and was still battling the biggest waspwyrm. He was tiring, but the waspwyrms gave no signs of wearing off. The waspwyrm flew a step back and charged aiming for Kou’s heart. “No!” Just as the waspwyrm’s sting nearly reached his heart, a burst of light shone from his pocket. The waspwyrm dematerialized and disappeared. “Whoa…” Kou rubbed his temple with his hand. Now, that was close. We hurriedly flew to the Sunstone Enclave and bolted the door shut. Crystal and Obsidian morphed into their human forms. Kou and I started to do the ritual to open the portal. “Mestrel ol Tel, Asteryr, Mestrel ol Lameth, amsal gebborn yeo..” Kou and I started to chant. “Bam!” the army of free shadows had arrived and were trying to get into the room. “nebedi, nasal ol esaula, Lighta.” Kou and I completed the ritual. “Hurry!” We sprinted into the portal just as the army of free shadows burst in. I landed on Kou as we arrived in the real world. “Ow…” Kou groaned as I climbed off him. “Sorry.” I shrugged. “I feel weird.” a voice beneath us sounded. “Of course, we’re spritshadows now.” another voice said. Oh yeah. Crystal and Obsidian were spritshadows now. There were still in their human forms though. Suddenly, a earthshaking crash sounded from outside the building. Both Kou and I were thrown off our feet. “What was that!” I asked. Crystal, as a spritshadow, stretched over to the window. “The war has already started. We have to go now!” Crystal informed us. Kou and I nodded and made our way to the front yard. Then, we gasped. The front yard was covered with mangled bodies of humans. Blood coated the grounds of the front yard. I felt nauseas at the scene. Suddenly, a voice called out my name. Swerving around, I saw Claidi, mangled and beat up on the floor. I ran to her, embracing her despite all the blood. “You’re okay. I was so worried when didn’t come back..” Claidi coughed. “Hush. It’s okay. What happened?” I coaxed. “I don’t know. I was standing here, waiting for the ceremony to start, when the Empress’s spritshadow, Sharrakor leapt up. He killed the Empress. Then hordes of spritshadows came in and slaughtered everyone. They killed Winter. I…” Claidi started to cry. “Come on Jadeite. We have to go.” Kou tugged at my right arm. “Go away. I need to help Claidi.” I shrugged him off. “Jadeite, if you really want to help Claidi, then you should come with me and stop all this once and for all.” Kou persisted. I paused and realized he was right. “All right.” I started to get up. “Stay here.” I told Claidi. “If anyone comes here, pretend to be dead. I’ll come back soon.” I stood up and walked away with Kou, ignoring Claidi’s cries for me to go back. Author's Note: Sorry for the short chapter, it was supposed to be the final one, but it was too long, so I split it. We're nearing the end!!! Muse Toture & Rants- Jadiete: Well, I'm back! Author: Oh, so hello, how was your trip to the realm of darkness. Jadiete: (Glares) Kou: You know, it wasn't a really nice thing to do, that place is full of dark things, evil, bad etc. Not a good idea to send anyone there. Especially Jadiete. Author: Why are you so worried, she came back in one piece, didn't she? Kou: That wasn't what i meant... Jadiete: WELL, while I was there, I gained a few servents. Author: HUH!!!! Jadiete: Go forth my little pets! (Gruesome monsters start chasing the author around) Kou: What I meant was that since she is Light, darkness would be attracted to her, and she would gain a dark seed...
